VATRE 2025

VATRE COMING THIS FALL
Due to budget shortfalls and inaction from the state legislature, Blanco ISD, like many other school districts in Texas, will be holding a Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) this fall. Since 2019, the costs of insurance and utilities have doubled, fuel prices have tripled, and inflation continues to rise. Blanco ISD is facing a budget deficit exceeding $500,000 for the 2025-2026 school year.
If the VATRE is approved in November, BISD would generate approximately $476,000 annually. Additionally, an approved VATRE would secure extra funding from the state. While this funding won't completely eliminate the deficit, it will help ease the strain
on our general operating budget. Should voters approve the VATRE in November, the district's maintenance and
operations (M&O) tax rate will increase by 2 cents. The revenue generated from the successful passage of the VATRE will be exempt from recapture, ensuring that none of these funds will be returned to the state.
More information will be provided soon.
