BHS NEWS AND ALERTS

Good evening parents and guardians! I hope this email finds you well and your students enjoying the last couple of weeks of summer break! I just got back from Texas Tech and their orientation for my son who will be a freshman there this fall. It happens before you know it! Enjoy your time with them and pray they don’t surprise you in April of their junior year about wanting to graduate early and move off to college a year sooner than expected! If they do, see me as I will have some guidance!

I wanted to make you aware of a couple of things to keep on your radar:

  1. They should be sealing and striping our student parking lot (where the senior spots are) this weekend. Once they finish that, we will be numbering all spots and then the following week (Monday, August 8th) we will start to assign senior spots and then later that week we will follow up with juniors and sophomores plus any freshmen who might be driving. I am attaching the senior spot form to this email for them to start filling out and bring to the front office. I will also send it to the senior’s school email. They already have the google form for the parking pass, this form is only for those who want to paint their spots this year.
  2. We are in the process of rewording some of the dress code (not changing anything) to make it a little clearer. All of it is a point of emphasis but a few changes to be aware of is we are requiring our male students to have their hair cut to where it is off the collar if they were to wear a collared shirt. Facial hair is still not allowed. Our guys cannot have any piercings and our girls can only have their ears pierced. I will send the Dress Code with the updated wording ASAP. Remember nothing has changed but we are making the wording a little clearer.
  3. We will be having a Meet the Teacher night early in August. I need to get with our coaches and directors to make sure we are not overlapping with Athletics/Band/Theatre and will communicate a date as soon as we get one confirmed this week. I also need to check with our Middle School and Elementary School to ensure we don’t conflict with them.
  4. We will start to have monthly information meetings for parents and guardians to come up and sit down with our administration and counseling staff to help keep you informed and answer any questions. I will get you details on those dates by the end of this week.

Our students are getting geared up and ready to go. Volleyball and Football camps are this week. Band Camp has started today. Our Fall Musical students will be getting geared up next week. Cross Country will be running early in the morning starting next week. We are just around the corner for the start of school and I cannot wait to have our students back in the building!

If you have any questions, please reach out to me!
