Parent Newsletter 8/15/2023

Welcome Back!

Morning Arrival

School begins for students on Wednesday, August 16 at 8 AM.

Please drop your student off at the front of the school. The doors to the school will open at 7:30 AM. The cafeteria starts food service at that time for students who wish to eat breakfast at school.

Afternoon Dismissal

School will dismiss at 3:40. Parent pickup will start at that time. Please note that the parent pickup line will be in the back parking area near the cafeteria/gym entrance. Parent pickup should not occur in front of the school as it is a safety issue for students and for cars trying to turn around in the middle of the road or pull out without a clear view on Rocky Road. The parent pickup line will enter at the northernmost entrance of the teacher parking lot (next to the practice baseball field). Please do NOT use the first entrance as that is where buses line up for student pickup.

Class Schedules

Class schedules are available online through the parent portal. You can log in and check your child's classes. If you need assistance with the parent portal, please contact BMS (830) 833-5570.

Schedule changes may be requested this week. Class size may play a role in whether there is availability in any particular class. That could include core or elective classes. All requests may not be able to be accommodated.

Class Meetings

Class meetings will be held Friday, August 18th. Meetings will be held during class time.

6th-2nd period

7th -3rd period

8th- 4th period

We will go over various topics with students during these meetings. Including behavior, dress code, electronic devices, etc.

Construction Update

The  cafeteria is undergoing a renovation so things might look a little different. We still will be serving a wonderful, nutritious lunch at the MS cafeteria but choices may be a little different than normal. The construction will hopefully be completed in November and you will see a bright, new, modern kitchen and serving line.

The progress on the gym looks wonderful and is coming along very nicely. We are hoping that the gym is completed by the end of the week. Stay tuned for more information.

Stuff Your Locker

Stuff Your Locker was held at BMS on Monday, August 14th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Thanks to the cheerleaders who helped with the event by giving tours to incoming 6th graders and to students who were new to Blanco MS. Also, thank you to all of the teachers and staff who helped make the event a success.

VACCINATIONS

Make sure your child is up to date on their immunizations. 7th grade students typically need a booster to attend school. Please check with your child’s doctor to see if they need additional boosters to start school this year.

ONLINE PAYMENTS

Blanco ISD fans and guests will have a new and more convenient way to buy athletic tickets to events during the 2023–2024 school year thanks to a new partnership with HomeTown Ticketing. The transition to digital ticketing will result in a reliable and simple experience that will allow fans and school staff to more easily and effectively manage all athletic events that require tickets for entry. Tickets for all Blanco ISD athletic events can be purchased through the District’s website or by downloading the HomeTown Fan App. Please see the QR codes in preparation for purchasing your tickets. The HomeTown Fan App will allow you to manage your entire ticketing experience on most iOS or Android mobile devices. The App allows you to purchase and store tickets on your smartphone or other mobile device. Simply search for events by school name, zip code, or event. You can also “favorite” schools to quickly find upcoming events, purchase tickets, and present your digital tickets to be scanned on your way into the event. All athletic events will require tickets to be purchased in advance. Tickets will be available approximately 3-5 days prior to the event. We will not be accepting cash purchases at the gate. In the event that tickets are not purchased, individuals will be asked to download the app or go to the District website to purchase tickets prior to your entrance into the event. For anyone that needs additional assistance please contact the District Office @ 830-833-4414, we will work with you to ensure your event experience is not interrupted. The District will be expanding online purchasing opportunities for parents and the community later this fall and winter. Please be on the lookout for those future opportunities! We are looking forward to seeing you this year and “GO PANTHERS!!
