Update 2/20/21

BISD Families,

The events over the last week have been challenging to say the least, and I know the challenges will continue as we recover and get water restored.  Our hearts go out to those impacted by these most recent events.  We realize that many are facing limitations due to electrical outages, lack of water, and other hardships.  It is my sincere hope that each of you are safe.

I want to communicate with you as we at BISD are also working to restore our facilities and get back to our normal routine. Like many others, we do not have water, and both the middle school and high school suffered significant damage due to frozen pipes and water leaks.  Cleanup has begun and pipes have been repaired, but we need to turn the water back on and inspect our campuses again to ensure repairs are successful.  Because of our lack of water, we will need a little more time in our buildings to prepare for students.  Complicating our return, we also discovered that our main server was impacted by the extreme cold, and we currently lack internet connectivity.

We will reassess the status of our buildings and infrastructure tomorrow (Sunday) in order to make a determination about when we will return to instruction.  We will send out more information as soon as possible.  Right now, I know that your number one priority is to take care of yourself and those you love.  Stay safe!
